This training is designed for undergraduate students as a way of educating them about the lived experiences of LGBTQ individuals on campus.  

Students will walk away from the training with a better sense of the lives of LGBTQ people, a list of campus resources, and the tools to become a better ally.

Women of Color Connections: Self Care and Mental Wellness

Women of Color Connections are an opportunity to create and strengthen connections for women students of color at UNC Charlotte. The connections will converge around topics and events that are particularly relevant and interesting to women of color.

Conversations will focus on the experiences of women of color at the graduate level, however undergraduate students (especially those that have desires to attend graduate school in the future) are welcome to attend.

This is a collaboration between the Multicultural Resource Center and the Center for Gradate Life.

{WE MOVE}: Beyond the Binary: Cultivating Healthy Relationships

The {WE MOVE} Series is the MRC’s newest gender programming initiative.

{WE MOVE} is the fusion of the Women Empowerment Series and the Men of Value and Excellence Series and aims at exploring issues and topics related to all gender identities.

{WE MOVE} includes topics relevant to female, male, gender nonconforming, and Trans identified individuals. This is a discussion-based series, so all are encouraged to lend their voice to the conversation.

Let's Talk About It: Being Queer in the South

Led by the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC), the Let's Talk It Discussion Series will focus on areas of diversity and allow students to dig deeper in their understanding of a topic.

These discussions are open to all and will focus on one area of diversity during each conversation.

All participants are expected to come prepared to share your thoughts and be open to learning from others perspectives as well.

Carolina Conference on Queer Youth

In its fifth year, the Carolina Conference on Queer Youth is a partnership between the MRC and Time Out Youth.  

This conference is designed to bring together K-12 teachers, school counselors, middle and high School students, college students, community practitioners, and activists together to discuss a wide range of topics centered around Queer Youth identity.

Queer Year 1 (QY1) is a program designed for first-year students at UNC Charlotte.

QY1 is a cohort program that helps to connect LGBTQ and allied students to the queer community on campus and the larger community of Charlotte.

The program will engage students through the arts, community activism, community outreach, and connecting to campus life.

All first-year students at UNC Charlotte are welcome to attend.

The MRC Presidents Roundtable is designed to connect the presidents of major multicultural organizations to the MRC as a means of staying informed of current events that the organizations are hosting and issues they are having as they pertain to diversity/identity.

The Roundtable will provide a space to connect student leaders to administration and connect student leaders to underutilized resources.

Dinner will be provided.

Confirmation of leadership position will be required.
