Safe Zone 2.0: Welcome Back to Campus

The Safe Zone 2.0 program is designed to actively engage existing Safe Zone Allies in conversations that will deepen their knowledge about LGBTQ issues on campus and around the country.  

These Brown Bag style talks will be conversations lead by experts that will help facilitate continuing education for Allies on campus as we try and broaden the support for LGBTQ individuals in our community. This month we will meet & greet with Allies from various campus departments.

Let's Talk About It: Oppression and Privilege

Led by the Multicultural Resource Center (MRC), the Let's Talk It Discussion Series will focus on areas of diversity and allow students to dig deeper in their understanding of a topic.

These discussions are open to all and will focus on one area of diversity during each conversation.

All participants are expected to come prepared to share your thoughts and be open to learning from others perspectives as well.

Queer Year 1

Queer Year 1 (QY1) is a program designed for first year students at UNC Charlotte.

QY1 is a cohort program that helps to connect LGBTQ and allied students to the queer community on campus and the larger community of Charlotte.

The program will engage students through the arts, community activism, community outreach, and connecting to campus life.

All first-year students at UNC Charlotte are welcome to attend. This first meeting is a social meet and greet with free food and giveaways.

The Safe Zone Program is designed to help educate faculty, staff, and students about the lives of LGBTQ identified people.

This 4-hour training will culminate in the opportunity to become a Safe Zone Ally to help connect LGBTQ students to resources at UNC Charlotte.

Women of Color Connections: Imposter Syndrome

Women of Color Connections are an opportunity to create and strengthen connections for women students of color at UNC Charlotte. The connections will converge around topics and events that are particularly relevant and interesting to women of color.

Conversations will focus on the experiences of women of color at the graduate level, however undergraduate students (especially those that have desires to attend graduate school in the future) are welcome to attend.

This is a collaboration between the Multicultural Resource Center and the Center for Gradate Life.

{WE MOVE}: Re-Understanding Gender

The {WE MOVE} Series is the MRC's newest gender programming initiative.

{WE MOVE} is the fusion of the {WE} Women Empowerment Series and the {MOVE} Men of Value and Excellence Series and aims at exploring issues and topics to all gender identities.

{WE MOVE} includes topics relevant to female, male, gender nonconforming, and Trans identified individuals. this is a discussion-based series, so all are encourage to lend their voice to the conversation.
