Multicultural Student Council


The Multicultural Student Council is a group of UNC Charlotte students who serve as proponents of diversity on campus and as ambassadors of the Multicultural Resource Center.

Members of the Council:

  • Serve as diversity educators on campus, in seminar classes, and in residence halls
  • Serve as ambassadors at Multicultural Resource Center (MRC) events
  • Provide information about the MRC to prospective and newly-admitted students and their families at Explore and SOAR orientation events
  • Assist with hosting MRC social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
  • Provide support for the campus community by attending functions (e.g. receptions, student panels) as requested

Council members will receive:

  • Training as a student diversity educator for campus
  • Regular meetings to stay up to date on campus events, and diversity education initiatives
  • Experience in public speaking, group facilitation, and cultural workshop development
  • Excellent opportunities to build skills that will look great on a resume
  • Annual retreat featuring team building, public speaking workshop, fun, and time to connect with other Council members
  • Compensation

Requirements of the Council:

  • Must have an interest and investment in promoting diversity
  • Must be of at least sophomore-level standing (when you serve)
  • Have and maintain a minimum of a 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Attend training retreat during the Fall semester
  • Attend all Council meetings/trainings scheduled twice per month on Mondays from 4:00 PM- 5:30 PM
